Description
Designed in 1943 by Sergei Gavrilovich Simonov, this Soviet battle rifle was widely exported throughout the Communist world, and was reproduced in many combloc countries. It is chambered for the 7.62x39 mm cartridge.
It was ultimately replaced in the early 50s by the AK-47.
Today it can be found in many variations, some of which are highly prized by collectors. Due to the large quantities produced, the SKS in all its forms remains a favorite of collectors due to its relative affordability.
